KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- The government is currently drafting the strategy and initiative for short, medium and long-term economic development for the mid-term review of the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) to ensure the economy continues to remain resilient.

Deputy Economic Affairs Minister Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said the government is aware that the current global economic environment is challenging due to global trade wars and issues such as Turkey’s financial crisis.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- The International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) today announced that it has initiated administrative review of anti dumping duties on the import of hot rolled coils from China and Indonesia. 

MITI said it had received a petition from interested parties on July 17, 2018, requesting for an administrative review of anti-dumping duties on the imports of hot rolled coils, chequered coils, as well as, pickled and oiled coils.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (Bernama) — The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) does not expect the review of several projects linked to China’s state-owned enterprises to affect the bilateral trade between both countries. In fact, its Exports Promotion and Market Access Division Senior Director, Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said he believed the relevant issues would be addressed accordingly by the government at the political level.

KUALA LUMPUR: Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Bhd (Exim Bank) will soon be placed under the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) alongside SME Bank Malaysia. Exim Bank is an agency under the purview of the Finance Ministry while SME Bank is already under Miti.

KUANTAN, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) need to collaborate with local institutions of higher learning (IPTs) to enable them to brace technologies in order to be more competitive in the face of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0).

Malaysia's labour force grows 2.4% in Q2

KUALA LUMPUR: The labour force in Malaysia increased 2.4% to 15.28 million persons in the second quarter of 2018, as compared to the same quarter in 2017. "The employed persons also recorded an increased of 2.4 per cent in the same period to 14.77 million persons," said Datuk Sri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin, Chief Statistician of the Department of Statistics, Malaysia.
