KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 (Bernama) –  Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd (Cradle) expects its Cradle Investment Programme (CIP) to reach a gross domestic product (GDP) of RM30.8 billion by 2030. Cradle acting group chief executive officer Razif Abdul Aziz said CIP has contributed RM3.4 billion to the country's GDP to date, created 80,600 full-time jobs, and attracted RM1.3 billion in private and foreign funds over eight years from 2008.

KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad berkata, pelbagai kajian perlu dilakukan ke atas lebih banyak tanaman yang mampu memberi manfaat kepada negara selain kelapa sawit dan getah.


Perdana Menteri berkata, kajian terbabit penting supaya lebih banyak produk dapat dihasilkan daripada sumber tanaman yang terdapat di negara ini.


"Getah dan kelapa sawit bukan berasal dari Malaysia. Getah dibawa dari Brazil manakala kelapa sawit dan Afrika Barat namun bagaimana tanaman ini dimanfaatkan memberi pulangan yang amat baik kepada negara.

SME Bank appoints Aria Putera Ismail as CEO

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 (Bernama) – Aria Putera Ismail has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Bhd (SME Bank) effective today.

Aria, who was Maybank Syariah Indonesia (MSI) President Director and Chief Executive Officer prior to this, had more than 18 years of experience in the banking and investment industry, the bank said in a statement.

IGEM2018 targets RM2.5 bln in business leads

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 (Bernama) – The International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2018) is targeting RM2.5 billion in business leads via the participation of more than 250 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors from over 35 countries.

To be held from Oct 17- 20, IGEM 2018 will focus on sustainable cities, highlighting innovations in five key sectors of green technology – renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste technology, management and green manufacturing.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (MED) will create a one-stop centre, which will, among others, store data and information on entrepreneurs, gather feedback, provide advisory service and coordinate complaints on entrepreneurial matters in a move to further empower the development of Bumiputera entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

SINGAPORE, Sept 2 (Bernama) --  Several countries have expressed their interest to invest in Malaysia particularly in Borneo, revealed Malaysia’s International Trade and Industry Minister Darell Leiking.

Without naming the countries and industries that they may venture into, the minister said the interest may be translated into new investments and injection of additional investments into existing operations.

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- The government has no choice but to implement the Sales and Services Tax (SST) by Sept 1, despite various issues, or else the country’s current account will fall into deficit, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said.

He said the country would experience a shortfall of RM4 billion in revenue if the SST were not rolled out and this would place a heavy toll on the government's economic performance.

Sabah allocates RM1 million to empower SME

SANDAKAN, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- The Sabah Trade and Industry Ministry has allocated a RM1 million grant for the development of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the state through the SIRIM-Fraunhofer programme.

Its assistant minister Azhar Matussin said it was a continuous commitment to ensure the success of the SME entrepreneurs through the programme which specifically designed to enhance the productivity of the SMEs via technology applications and interventions.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- The Primary Industries Ministry has urged government agencies to come out with a directive for contractors to use local rubber products to promote the industry and benefit smallholders.

“It doesn't make sense that our rubber gloves, for example, are being widely exported to many countries, but local rubber is not used by many projects in Malaysia,” said Minister Teresa Kok Suh Sim to reporters after launching the National Rubber Economic Conference 2018 here today.

SINGAPORE, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) says it wants to see more Malaysian products marketed in the island republic. “If your product can penetrate the Singapore or Australia markets, your products should also be able to penetrate the global market,” said FAMA Corporation CEO Zainal Abidin Yang Razalli.
