E-Usahawan rekod 156,000 peserta

KUALA LUMPUR: Perbadanan Ekonomi Digital Malaysia (MDEC) menerusi program eUsahawan komited melahirkan lebih ramai usahawan digital dengan melatih 120,000 lagi peserta tahun ini, menjadikan jumlah keseluruhan seramai 276,000.

Ketua Program eUsahawan, Bakat dan Keusahawanan Digital MDEC, Sharifah Nur Izma Syed Izadin, berkata pihaknya mempunyai lebih 700 tenaga pengajar, pelatih komuniti dan pensyarah di seluruh negara.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) remains optimistic about the long-term outlook of the economy following the formation of the new government.

In a statement, EPF said it anticipated that any potential short-term market dips would provide opportunities for further investments in the domestic markets.

According to chief executive officer Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan, EPF has been investing in the country for a very long time and the strong fundamentals of the economy have remained intact.

KUALA LUMPUR: SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp) dan RHB Bank Bhd terus mengukuhkan pembayaran tanpa tunai bagi segmen perusahaan kecil dan sederhana (PKS) dengan menyasarkan 100,000 usahawan akan menggunakan transaksi tanpa tunai menjelang akhir tahun ini.

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif SME Corp, Datuk Hafsah Hashim berkata, pihaknya percaya jumlah PKS yang akan beralih kepada transaksi digital akan meningkat dari masa ke masa.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) said the proposed increase in the minimum wage announced by caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is not a “gift” as a hike in the minimum wage has been long overdue.

MTUC secretary-general J Solomon said that it is also misleading for the caretaker government to announce this measure, as the minimum wage level is under the purview of the National Wage Consultative Council (NWCC).

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s total external reserves surged US$2.2 billion to US$110.0 billion at mid-April 2018, the highest since end of February 2015, underpinned by capital, trade and corporate flows.

Maybank IB Research said the latest tally is equivalent 7.7 months of retained imports and 1.1 times of short-term external debt.

PARIS: Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) has signed a tripartite pact with Daher and France’s IoT Valley, to promote more investment and business cooperation between France and Malaysia, particularly in the development of IoT and logistics in Malaysia’s aerospace industry.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) aims to achieve sales of RM450 million at the 15th China ASEAN Expo (Caexpo) 2018 in Nanning from Sept 12 -15.

Senior Director of Strategic Planning Division, Datuk Aureen Jean Nonis said MATRADE would conduct a stricter selection process of companies for participation at the expo due to limited space at the Malaysian pavilion.

UALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s franchise industry is expected to grow five per cent this year due to its good prospects in the international markets.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the industry contributed RM27 billion to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) last year.

“Malaysia is on track to be the regional hub in South East Asia for the franchise industry. The industry aims to contribute RM35 billion to the national GDP in the next two years."
